Karen Guest Joins Lee Enterprises as Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
DAVENPORT, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2006--Karen J. Guest, general counsel of PAJ, Inc., in Dallas, Texas, has been appointed vice president and chief legal officer of Lee Enterprises, Incorporated (NYSE:LEE).
Mary Junck, Lee chairman and chief executive officer, said Guest will oversee all corporate legal affairs, working with Lee's legal staff and general counsel.

The appointment is effective July 1.
Guest has been general counsel at PAJ, the largest manufacturer and importer of bridge jewelry in the United States, since 2003. Her career includes serving as vice president, general counsel and secretary of United Advertising Publications, Inc., in Dallas, a niche media, magazine and online publishing company operating in 38 states where she became a nationally known speaker on issues related to fair housing. She also previously operated a legal consulting practice, was general counsel and secretary of Hughes Homes, Inc., in Tacoma, Wash., and was an associate at Hackett, Beecher & Hart, a law firm in Seattle, Wash.
She received a degree in biology-chemistry at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., and a law degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, the Corporate Counsel Association and the Dallas Corporate Counsel Association.
Guest and her husband, Robert, have a son, Michael, and a daughter, Lauren, in college and another son, Mark, who will be a senior in high school. Guest has been very active in her children's various sporting activities as well as numerous charity and professional organizations.
